Ready for False Prophets (Matthew 7:15-20)

What is a false prophet?  Right now, today, how can you recognize a false prophet from a real prophet?  Prophets at the time of Christ heralded the truth of the Gospel of God, taught and proclaimed the Kingdom of God and Christ as the Messiah.  These truths never changed from the message of hope in the Garden to Adam and Eve of the seed of the woman which would crush the head of the serpent, to the continued heralding of Christ as the Messiah who sits at the right hand of God on the throne today.

Just as there were false prophets throughout the history of the world defined by their actions.  Men and women worshipping other gods (Rejection of YHWH 1 Sam 8:4–9; Jer 44:1–5), those seeking reward for themselves through deceit and lies (Achan Josh 7; Gehazi 2 Kings 5), even Satan himself teaching and arguing against the will of God within creation (Gen 3; Job 1&2).  Today the same motivations are recognizable in those who are the modern counterparts to the God given history of false prophets.

The pseudo prophet today redefines who God is, who Christ is, what Holy Scripture is, and in so doing presents lies as the truth, and leads its followers to Other Gods.  Often these organizations and it leaders are dedicated to prosperity on earth as a central theme, again twisting the truth into lies.  As liars and those who would change the living God into a lie (Rom 1:25) disguised as a motivational idea, or prosperity gospel for self-care, they are satanic.

Let me state that again, every false prophet was and is an Adversary of the True and Living God, or another way to say it.  Those who teach anything, but the truth found in the Scripture as breathed forth by God for His glory and our blessing and edification, has more in common with Satan (thereby being satanic) than with any other creature, for as Christ clearly teaches us in rebuking such false teachers:

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (John 8:44)
